Advanced Autism Practice
An exploration of policy and good practice in supporting autistic citizens. This advanced training will provide practical approaches, tools and techniques that promote a person-centered approach to meeting needs in autistic individuals. All sessions will include, video content, discussion, group tasks and presentation.

Policy and legislation
Experiences of autistic people
Terminology - current debate
Support approaches and the evidence
Neurodiversity and autism
Gender and autism
Service provision challenges
What will I learn?
By the end of this training, participants will:
1. Understand the latest thinking and debate surrounding autistic people and the issues that affect their lives
2. Understand the concept of autism as a spectrum, and have knowledge of the breadth of services that autistic people will need
3. Understand the needs and vulnerabilities of autistic people
4. Understand how to contribute to the person-centered support of autistic people
5. Have knowledge of speech language and communication needs and how to adapt and augment communication
6. Have knowledge of the sensory sensitivity, processing and perceptual differences in autism and how to adapt and augment environments

This training is ideal for all health and social care professionals, including but not limited to nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, social workers, support staff, and mental health professionals. The workshop is aligned to Qualifications and Credit Framework LD310.

We can also provide half day face to face, or shorter workshops live online via Zoom. Email us for details.
We work with you to determine the learning needs of your team and adapt our interactive workshops accordingly.
Whatever workshop you chose we guarantee that your training will be delivered by an experienced, skilled trainer.
We can help with evaluating the effectiveness of the training and give you a report based on both the experiences of your learners and the trainer.
