The course will get you to turn positive ideas about autism into positive actions. You might be a care practitioner, teacher, social worker, nurse, therapist, manager who has a role in learning and development of staff who work with children/adults with autism. |
How does it work?
Whether you are an experienced trainer or have recently taken on a staff development role, providing good adult learning in the field of autism presents some specific challenges. The course will provide a safe environment to develop as a trainer in the company of other trainers. Autism is a complex condition and helping staff teams understand it and feel supported is a real skill. Making that achievable is what this course is all about. As part of the course there will be pre and post training activities and support. Much of the course will focus on learning how to make autism training fun, accessible and positive for learners. It's rare to attend courses that you can actually say changed your life but for me it has been so. I learned so much about what made me feel confident in my own delivery and numerous ideas and strategies that I had not considered before or lacked confidence to try out. I came away with a totally different attitude to training which before I always felt nervous and reluctant about.” At the end of the course trainers will:
• be confident about their training • have a development plan for themselves, their practice and the training they deliver • have ideas to enhance their effectiveness, self-awareness and resilience as a trainer • understand the range of unique learning needs that staff teams have in relation to autism • have their own ideas for effective training practice ready to go • have an appreciation of adult learning and the relationship between training, learning and doing • have transformed their training style • want to learn more I got so much out of the training and am really fired up ready to put it all into practice!
